130130 Properity and Health

Proverbs 13:7
There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

Read 3 John 2 because it links prosperity and health. My health has improved, so let me slip in something about prosperity today. There is nothing wrong with money, as long as our attitudes towards God are right. One can easily find a person without money who has far more of a greed problem than someone who simply got paid for doing something well. Greed has much more to do with wanting and desiring rather than actually having.

“There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing:”

In 2011, Herbalife seemed like a good work-at-home idea. Decades ago, I had known some believers who had been selling it, and the product seemed like a good idea. The group I joined, however, had one thought: MONEY. That’s all they talked about. “Get rich!” “Amass wealth!” “Live in a mansion like mine!” “Buy a Lamborghini or two!” That was not, and could not be my goal. I’m glad, because that particular group is currently under investigation for shady practices. I quit long before I could lose as much money as someone in this article did:  Herbalife Troubles

The article is one-sided, because I have met honest people in the organization. Top recruiters, however, get all the glory and all the money by telling all the lies. A bit of truth is that I am thankful that my daughter and her boyfriend lost and are still losing weight on the product. She lost weight, not by restricting calories, but by adding the nutrition contained in the shakes. Although I can support the product, I had to ask myself: “Is money really worth the damage that lying does to my heart? “

there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.”

On the other hand, I know and have known many wonderful, godly people who had varying degrees of money, but are all prosperous. Two examples:

1. A certain man, a friend, seems to have nothing beyond the bare basics, yet he always smiles. He loves the Household and speaks God’s Word to anything that moves. He has seen signs, wonders, and miracles. He has riches no one can take. Whenever he has a need, God provides.

2. Another man I know grew up very poor, but when he finally heard the rightly-divided Word of God speak of prosperity, he decided to prove it. Today, he has one child in college with no debt, while the other graduated last year with no debt. Isn’t college debt one of the big problems of today? What about housing crisis? He also owns his home; he has no mortgage. He may not be a millionaire, but he has prospered and is at peace.

Both these men made themselves ‘poor’ before God. They obeyed God. They put God first in their lives. God rewarded them with prosperity. Prosperity is not a number. It is having each need met as it arises. It is peace of mind. It is health and wholeness.

God Bless You!

121022 Work

Once again, I admit to not being a salesman. No matter, God provides. This month I have lost my distributorship, so my daughter's boyfriend has decided to buy Herbalife. Great timing, dude! We had a stockpile from last year, so I resold some of those to him.

Oh well, I'm thankful. He also used some oils yesterday, so maybe he'll become interested in them, too. His mom liked them, but hasn't bought any. Young Living also sells a weight loss shake, but I haven't tried it. I trust them more than I do the chemical-laden Herbalife products.

I've decided to look for a part time job close to home. This means I actually have to get up and go places. It would be nice if some place within walking distance determines that they need a shuffling old lady hanging around the place doing something physically slow. I'll let you know if anything happens.
