Writer's Block from Live Journal

"What's your most debilitating insecurity? Do you think you'll ever overcome it?"

Why does the questioner assume that insecurities are debilitating? Insecurities are an opportunity to grow! Too many of us have been taught that excuses for bad behavior outweigh the training of good behavior. Events of the last 6 months have suggested to me that I should simply curl up and die! It seemed too difficult to bear, and I almost did die. My children, however, needed me. Friends helped me. Life continues. Have you ever seen a blade of grass push through the pavement? Have you ever seen a scraggly tree cling to a cliff? Have you ever spent time in the desert? Life moves on! If life gets you down, spend time with the plants, the ants, and consider how hard it is to get rid of cockroaches.

I have a friend who offers to post a verse from the Bible to counteract insecurities. That is totally possible; in fact, one could do 3 verses for every fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 gives us that pattern.

Thank-you lj friends for listening to my black rants when I was down, and for cheering when I got back up.

  1. The way you've handled things this year only further proves to me you are a person I respect and look up to. You've been an inspiration to me, as a mother, a wife and also a person. What is more, is that even though you've had all sorts of trouble, you've still made time to listen and support me and other friends whenever we've needed it and you've been available.

You have been and will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Thanks. *embarrassed* Today is 24 years, but a week from Monday it ends. :(

Many have disagreed with my decisions, but every step has seemed like the worst. Selling seems to be sacrificing my future, but staying seems full of peril, too. I've decided. We're selling because it allows me and the girls to move forward.

  3. For what it's worth, I think you're dealing with this the right way. *hugs*
